God's Big Wheel
70's Toys, 90's Lyrics & What Gratitude Can't Do
My Big Wheel: “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child…”
God’s Big Wheel:
God's Big Wheel
Those people who write of how being grateful can easily just turn everything right side up haven't met my deceptive self-seeking, which clearly thought that being grateful was one more way to get my way and that is, from the back to the middle and around again, it's gonna be here till we end, a hundred percent pure ego, pure uncut, unholy ego; so gratitude it seems also doesn't get me my way, damn the insidious reach of prosperity gospel droppings; instead, gratitude smooths the stone I often become, the ways I’ve become inflexible, unteachable, and certain and, to the great eventual relief of those around me, the foundation, the Rock, that is first and last, that is bottom, that is our foundation, and the ground of our being can remain, and does so best, when that stone I’ve become is softened to something again resembling clay, something that can again take me out of the driver's seat of my big wheel and place me back on the Potter's big wheel, where all my grit is fashioned by grace and where all that I am is curved and crushed and cradled into palms where my own name is engraved and I merge into My name in Her hands again.
